EUQ650 Future Trends in Learning Design - Assignment 2: Reflective Digital Journal by Greg Sheehan

Exploring innovations in education

In this digital journal I'll be looking at three learning innovations and showing how they are being used now as well as speculating on how they may be used in the near future. For this assignment I've tested out one of the innovations —  journalling role-playing games —  for the first time with students and recorded the results. It's given me hope for where I can steer my learning design career in a time of anxiety over how AI might render the profession obsolete.

Augmented Reality and Smart Glasses

On some campuses students and teachers alike are wearing smart glasses in the classroom. Is augmented reality the new reality?

AI Assistants and Tutors

AI assistants may become as ubiquitous as predictive text and AI tutors based on Large Language Models and Deep Learning are set to potentially change the face of education.

Journaling Roleplaying Games

Not all innovations are based on bleeding edge tech. Reflection and learning can be enhanced with paper, pen, and a few polyhedral dice.
